What is a "Mazuma"?
Mazuma is slang for cash. Our Mazuma is the big guy that runs the show here.
Our job is to keep him happy, which includes making sure he has lots of pistachios.
An unhappy Mazuma is not a good thing, in our experience
What does it cost to play?
Not a nickle - The Mazuma hopes that website revenues will permit the games to
remain free for our Mazuma Hunters.
How long does each Mazuma Hunt last?
Each treasure hunt will continue until someone locates the mazuma and submits the correct
serial number from the 50 dollar bill. With 20 clues coming out
twice per week, each game will last 10 weeks.
What happens if I find the exact location, but
someone else has already taken the mazuma?
Uh, you lose?
Will the hidden location be hard to get to?
Nope. When you see The Mazuma you'll know why. Every location will be within a few
hundred feet of a roadway. The Mazuma likes a little bit of hiking,
so many locations will be near a trail. But never hard to get to.
Will I be breaking any laws or be trespassing to get to the mazuma?
All hidden locations will be on public land. You will not have to do anything other
than dig a hole that's no more than a foot deep. So unless you're drunk & disorderly
you shouldn't have any problems. But PLEASE fill in your holes - leave it like you found it!
What if I get hurt?
Your registration agreement places full responsibility on you to take good care
of yourself. The Mazuma would be VERY upset if he knew you hurt
yourself playing his game.
How long will The Mazuma keep putting on Mazuma Hunts?
For as long as enough of his friends keep playing - that is, unless he runs out
of pistachios. THEN there'll be heck to pay...
When can I start searching for the mazuma?
You can look for the mazuma any time you think you have enough information to find it.
The mazuma is planted before the clues begin, so its ready when you are!
Is there a way I can be notified of new clues?
New clues come out every Tuesday and Saturday, so you can just check back then.
If you register at the Mazuma Hunt forum (at Forum) you
can subscribe to the "Clues" forum which will send you an email any time The Mazuma adds an entry about a clue.
Your email will not be available to other users unless you set your profile to allow members to email you.
Are there other types of hunts?
Yes. The first Virtual Mazuma Hunt began in January 2008. The Mazuma knows that not everyone is interested in participating
in a Physical Hunt when the treasure is not located within a reasonable distance. So in response to our Loyal Hunters, there will be both
physical hunts as well as armchair hunts.
These hunts will have a different reward than the physical hunts, but can be played by
EVERYONE. So we are VERY excited about our armchair hunts. Go to the Virtual Hunts to see the rewards.
